After trying to research to find the better quality between having aluminum or vinyl soffit, I have read a lot of information and opinions, but sadly most were based on which was easier to install. I don't care about the ease of install, what I care about is what is going to last the longest.
We currently have aluminum soffit on our house that has been there since 1974. Structure wise it is in good shape, just weathered over the years and we want new to compliment the new siding well be getting.
Being already impressed with the aluminum, I am leaning that way again, but I have never dealt with vinyl, or seen how it holds up over a period of time, which is why I'm not sure which route to go.
I've read vinyl can sag over time (even saw pics online) but wonder if this was due to improper install. But I've also read the "finish" is easier to clean and care for. How long has vinyl soffit been around?
If anyone has experience with both, and has also seen how vinyl hold up in the long run could you please give me your opinion on this. And again, an opinion based on quality and longevity. Ease of installation is not a factor when we ultimately make a choice.
We have deeper soffits that that are 34 inches deep, and a porch ceiling about 55 inches deep. We live in Ohio

Vinyl soffit has been around for a very long time, it's not some new thing.
Installed right it's not going to sag, it needs to be supported every 24" max, it can be scrubbed to clean it without scratching.
Depending on what look your going for there's lot's of other choices.
