Hi All,

My wife and I are doing some updating of our kitchen with thoughts of selling in 5-ish years. Vinyl floor plus granite counter is about the same price as duraceramic floor. We could use some advice concerning what is the better way to go in terms of increasing home value? Other considerations... we have one 1yr old (maybe another sometime), the kitchen is well-traveled, and no pets.

Thanks! -Hans

If you go with the Dura ceramic material, according to the post, you won't have any counter top.
What would you use?

The vinyl is fine if it is still in new condition when you sell. Or you will need to replace it at that time. But in the meantime you will have a nice counter to enjoy and a very usable floor. Many people will not understand and appreciated the added value of the dura ceramic floor.

Thanks for the replys, fellas! Good question about the counters. They are cheapest of laminate, but are in good shape. The floor is horrid-looking vinyl and definitely is going to go. We (chiefly my wife) made the decision to go with duraceramic floors. It makes her happy, and maintenance headaches aside, should be a nice addition to our kitchen. Best, Hans
