i think i am going to build a very small shed, say 2-3' x 8' x 6'ish tall. very low pitch lean to roof. just for lawn tools and such.

my issue is (among other things) the old garage slab that i want to put it on.
its not exactly level. not terrible, but its a little off, 1/2"ish over the 8'.
i want to build the shed square, and i want to seal the bottom plate to the slab.
any ideas ?

i am thinking that the shed would just "go with the flow" and still look and work well. but idk

also. any ideas for an inexpensive roof ?

thanx

Is the slab smooth?

No pits, cracks , spalling, or otherwise defective?

It is un-level due to the need to let water run out of the old garage. You can compensate for that by ripping your bottom plates to whatever taper necessary, as for sealing it to the concrete, nothing beats PL Construction adhesive, this also sticks it in place until final demolition.

A corrugated sheet or two of translucent roofing will allow light to enter all the way to the back, in the daytime.

I personally would build it wider and taller, but that is because I am 6'3" tall, and wide shouldered and have trouble turning around in cramped narrow areas.

its pretty smooth. but it does have some cracks, i don't recall if they are in this area, i will check.

i plan to bolt it down.

no need for lighting, its only going to be 2'ish deep = more like a closet than a shed.
bout the largest thing i would put in it would be the mower.
where it is going, i do not want it much larger. but that may change, as i don't have a solid plan yet.

i would like a steel roof. but idk if i could buy that small a piece

You can get sheet steel at any recycler cut to any size you specify.

Of course it will probably be smooth, not corrugated, and as thin as paper if you want, so it won't be very heavy.

Is there already a wall there to make this a real lean-to?

A few possible future issues I can see with the shed you posted.
With the siding that close to grade it's going to rot.
Doors should have 3 hindges, not two.
There's no roof over hangs which is going to be much harder on the siding.

With the roof sloped to the back, it will accumulate snow and ice between the fence and the shed, unless you flash the heck out of it.

As pointed out at least 3 hinges, and maybe 4 just to add extra strength.

A few points: Using bolt anchors for a shed that small may be overkill and tapcons underkill. You're probably better off with PL2000. A shed-slope to the fence may tick-off your neighbour. I don't know how well pegboard will weather. Whatever siding you use, you should keep it above the grade or it will rot fairly quickly.

i'm still chewing on this. probably over thinking it. but i think i am going to change it to 6x3' and not use the slab as a floor. i am going to get some wood this week some time, and perhaps start this weekend.

That's why I will not let those "box stores" deliver to my job site.

I have had to return half the load once or twice , because it was unacceptable.

I have had to spend 45 minutes to pick out 10 2xs that I wanted before, but at least I had usable lumber.

yeah, but i don't have much a choice. i have had real good luck at times, its a crap shoot.
i am going to try the other menards on the other side of town. its a better store all the way around, except i have to go out of my way to get to it.

ok, here it is, all 16 sq/ft of it :vs_smirk:.
go big or go home, i always say :vs_laugh:

anyway. it has gate brackets for the door (used ones i salvaged).
the door swings from the middle, door is right side front.
i decided against the metal roof, the pieces i have were not quite large enough.
so, i bought a piece of 3/4" AC2 plywood, $30. thats the whole piece.
i need to get some kind of knob for it, idk what yet.
and it will be stained some time soon'ish.
and i have to put some shelving in it.
