I'm pretty sure that you shouldnt ever drill through a support beam vertically but one beam is already drilled through vertically. What are your thoughts on drilling a hole in the right beam?

edit: the support beam is 5x8.

Not an issue if it's drilled in the middle, and not within 2' of the end.

Is it a beam or a top plate? To me, the wire looks like going through a 2x4 top plate but may be wrong. I'd never drill vertically through a beam. Top plate yes.
