I know these things are not typically recommend but I have a problem. The flex duct needs to be replaced and we won't be able to do so for at least a couple weeks. They've been in bad shape a while but I didn't realize the extent. Last winter or possibly before that it seems some rodents decided to chew holes throughout the inner lining (the outsides are fine) so I'm worried fiberglass is blowing in the house. In the interim, can I use the filters on all of them? We have one of the most expensive filtrete filters on the return.

on the supply side fiberglass won't get into the air stream, air will just leak out of he duct.

Be careful using expensive 1" pleated filters on the return. They can block airflow and cause equipment malfunction or even cause damage.

I'm confused as to how the fiberglass won't leak into the supply? The holes are on the INSIDE right below the vents and I can see pink in almost all of them. The holes are not on the outside when inspecting from the crawlspace.
