Vapor barier around IC box.. How to ??

3839 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Chemist1961
I installed bazz bt 1200 IC boxes ( http://www.lightingexperts.ca/en/bulbs-and-accessories/insulated-box.html ) in my kitchen ceiling which sits under a flat roof.

The ceiling is insulated and I now need to place a vapor barier over it, however I am not really sure what I am suppose to do around the IC boxes ?

Any tips would be appreciated? Thanx

The only instructions it has are on the box it self.. It shows that it has to sit under the vapor barrier but i don't see how the vapor barrier will stretch out that much.. I assume i am suppose to wrap it in a vapor barrier before i install it ...

Look at the attached pic and see what you make of it.. Thanx

The blue is the flex plastic box I mentuioned. You will seal the edges to other poly to form the vapour proof barrier. May also require acuostic type sealant or caulking at wire penetrations again depending on your code:thumbsup:
