Hello, I have a vacation home in Arizona where the temperature can get get up to 110 degrees in the summer. It sits empty sometimes for up to 4 months at a time. Before leaving i always shut off the main water and and turn the water heater down to pilot. My Question to a plumber is, should i leave one of the water taps open to relieve any kind of pressure build up or is that not necessary. Thank You.
if it were me, i would drain the system down after shutting the main, and then not worry about it. i would also turn that pilot on the water heater off.
