i'll be going away for two weeks soon.
i have a two family house and the upstairs is rented and on it's own zone valves but the same boiler.
i've been burning wood all winter and have had my zone turned off. i'm wondering if i can get away with just draining my first floor zone (isolatled with shut-offs), shutting off my bathroom and kitchen domestic, and just not heating the downstairs.
the tenant upstairs would still be heating. would this put a lot more strain on her heating, as if my downstairs is essentially outside?
my boiler is an old burnham jubilee oil-fired. it keeps the basement pretty warm.
my house is insulated with icynene top to bottom and is fairly tight but with old windows. i have a fire every two days usually and stay very warm.
so can i do this or do i need to run my heat while i'm away?
thanks!
