I've had good luck with General Finishes water based finishes. They have an exterior grade finish available in different sheens that has UV inhibitors in it. Doesn't change the color of the wood. It's pretty easy to work with, just follow their directions. The particular product I used was called 450. I get it at the local Woodcraft store. I think Amazon has it also. Just go to General Finishes site and do a little reading. They make high quality finishes. I used this on my white oak Adirondack chairs and a couple of bath vanities.
