i was wondering if it is acceptable to use flexible duct between a gas appliance and a chimney, instead of rigid ducts.

e.g.

i know this is advertised as chimney liner but i don't see why not use it as a duct.

i would not use flexible. it wont hold up and the ridges impeded efficient air flow

do you know if i can use regular rigid ducts from HD/Lowes or it has to be SS like for chimney liners?

Can be single wall 26 gauge pipe on most, some applications need B vent. Check the instal instruction of your unit.
