I am in the process of finishing a hardwood floor. I applied the first coat of polyurethane today and think it may have been too thick. I used a lambs wool applicator. I did some small areas with a 4" brush and they seem to be perfect (they already look like the satin finish after 5 hrs) but the part I did with the lambs wool still looks wet even after 8 hrs. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Typically the first coat thould be thinned slightly, but what you have is now what you must work with. Does it feel wet?? You need to sand between coats, so it needs to be dry enough to sand(screen). For oil based, it is not unusual to wait 24 hrs between coats. Water based, about 4-6 hrs after the first coat, subsequent coats usually dry more quickly.
