Hi, wondered if anyone had ever fitted a UPVC unit into a pitched slate roof instead of a velux? The roof is being stripped and renewed but the skylight has seen better days and I would like to replace it with a larger one. I have a window about a meter square and this would bring in considerably more light.
Any advice would be appreciated.

arh,

In North America we call uPVC simply vinyl. A lot of folks in our part of the world wouldn't know what uPVC means.

Regular windows are not designed to be used as skylights. There are a number of technical differences between windows and skylights that make the use of one as the other impractical and potentially dangerous (for example a skylight must have safety glass, a window may not need it).

I wouldn't do it.
