Hi,

I recently started to build a deck in my backyard. I located a strange metal triangle bar underground, close to the place where I want to set a post.

Although I saw the top of these metal bars before I wouldn't have thought that they are extending so far into the ground. I'm planning to put a post beside them, and perhaps I'll cut a small portion of it.

Do you know what is the role of this bar?

Just a guess but it may be an old Butane tank, you may want to find out before hitting the tank, just in case. Also you wouldn't want a post resting on it either if it is a tank.

Not familiar with Butane tanks. My first guess would be the base of an antenna mast that was cut down.
