I've had two hot water rolled copper pipes develop leaks under slab within 6 months of each other. So I've routed new piping overhead in the basement for the three hot runs and abandoned the hot water underslab piping. Should I be concerned about the cold lines developing leaks and go ahead and re-route those overhead as well before I finish remodeling the basement? There was no dieelctric union at the water heater. I'm hoping that the cold water lines have not eroded like the hot water lines obviously have. The underslab lines are about 34 years old. I believe I know the answer and it will be a tremendous amount of work now.... but I suppose that would far less than if it sprung a leak soon after I finish the basement out. Thanks for any insight the experienced folks might be willing to share with me.

It will leak right after you finish the basement if you don't do it now. But you already knew that.
