Under-window Benchtop

782 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  woodworkbykirk
I am looking to install a benchtop along the length of the windows in my room which run wall to wall, which is in-line with the window sill. I cannot use to the wall to mount the benchtop because it is made of asbestos, so I will be using supports, however, I cannot figure out how to create a seamless transition from the window-sill onto the benchtop, and by extension of that, how to join the two. All help appreciated.

Remove the window sill and make the top to fit where it was all out of 1 piece

Great idea! Unfortunately I am still left the problem of how to join the benchtop to the wall for a seamless finish. Any ideas?
determine the height at which the benchtop will tuck into the window and then install cleats on the wall at teh underside of the benchtop height. use a level to lay it out on the wall
