Want to run underground wire to a shed, 1 outlet inside, 1 outlet outside, LED light inside, 2 LED flood lights outside. I'm tired running a cord so I want electricity there when I use my hand circular saw or drill, nothing with a heavy draw. Without measuring, maybe 100' box to box. 12 or 14?

If your going through the work to run a wire, spend a little more and put at least a 8/3 out there. Than you can put a small sub panel and have lots of power out there. You will be happy in the future when you need it.

If you don't want the cost of a sub panel at this time you could put the #8 into a junction box and run your plugs and lights from there. Just make sure you use a 15 or 20 amp breaker in the main panel until you decide to put in a sub panel.

If you go with your original plan I would go with #12 on a 15A breaker to help with voltage drop.

I tell all my clients... if you are going through with the effort to trench, put in an oversized conduit (maybe two). Conduit is cheap and if you decide to change it up, you don't have to dig up the ground again.

I would install 2" DBII duct, 2 runs of it. Bury it 18-24" and be done with it.

Cheers
John
