Hello,
We have been planing to install a shower door soon. I took a stud finder to the bathroom walls, from what I can see I don't think there will be any studs I can screw into for the door framing. Is it typical not to have studs in this location? Any suggestions

If it had of been framed right in the first place there should have been a 2 X 6 laying flat in the area where any door or curtain was going to be hung.
Looks like now your stuck with having to use toggle bolts, not ideal.

Possible on one side, there is a closet, but the other side is the bedroom wall. Thanks for the suggestion.

I would think the hinge side would want backing. Even if you did a hole above the tile and hold get a block behind the drywall to screw into.
