Seems like I have two relief valves on my hot water heater. One top center, and another on the hot water side. Is the second, hot water side necessary?


Going to be replacing with PEX soon, and need to get parts correct.

The one on the pipe near ceiling is not necessary,

The second one is a legacy install and not necessary. The one that actually enters the tank is the only one needed.

Yup, looks like it was installed for an old piece of equipment prior to your current water heater.
