I am putting new flooring through out the house. I have a living room, hall, three small bedrooms, master full bath and quest full bath, and large den with fireplace in a corner with hearth and mantel. I want to put down a 10 ml. wood laminate down. Should I go with all the same color or hue? Even if I do the rest of the house with the same laminate, what about the large den? Same as the rest?
Also, I want to paint the den and kitchen. The kitchen is open to the den except for a tear shape bar. Underneath this bar it is brick. The the walls are paneled. There is a wainscot around half the room with painted panels underneath. Above is the dread ugly as sin wal^&**R$. It is not simply glued to the old paneling but has a second layer that replace the much uglier wallpaper. The room is 25 x 23 or 575 square foot. I would like to finish out the wainscoting try to join it into one one cozy room. I believe the last owners tried to create a divided room. They did wrap the top with 8 inches of [email protected]&%#er/ . Now the sub-questions are how to get rid of the wallpaper? What kind of color scheme would match a hickory laminate, it is a medium brown. I also am thinking of bamboo or a chestnut hue of laminate. Do the room's trim in a similar or different color of the floor?
Please, ask me questions because I really don't know what I am doing. My wife does not have the decorator's touch. She leaves it up to me and I am so eclectic I like to mix up styles because I like the piece, most of the room is filled with odd trinkets from travels and adventures. On the mantel you will find a porcelain cup to a porcelain replica of Fat Freddy's Cat. The things that hang are a mix of Spanish, Chinese, album covers, Incan tapestry, and so forth. So keep interesting thoughts for this den.
Thank y'all, Tim
