Tubing bending question...

2407 Views 8 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  imposter h
I am trying to bend 1/4" stainless steel tubing 360 degrees into a coil. I can only seem to find tools that bend 180 degrees. I know that I have seen tight radius coils of stainless steel before. Is this something that can only be accomplished using thousands of dollars of tools and a factory or do any of you talented people have any tricks? Thanks in advance...

What diameter coil?
Frankly, I'll take anything up to 4" diameter...3" is ideal....

For coiling I find a cylinder and start wrapping the coil around the cylinder until I have the number of coils I need. For water closet and special piping I use a pipe bender.

Maybe a glass out of the kitchen or what I use is a short piece of PVC for what ever size I need 1 1/4, 1 1/2, 2, 3, 4 or what ever. Just needs to be a true cylinder so it will slide off
No it won't but just take your time. If you are holding the pipe againt the pipe and slowly start bending it around the pipe it won't kink. Just go slow.
Post a pic of what you are doing when you have it completed.
