The Problem:

Tub spout leaking. When shower is on, water sprays out of the rear of the spout where the Allen nut is.

Spout is slip-on type. It was very difficult, but I was able to remove the old spout (which had to be destroyed).

I notice that the slip-on stub out is only 3/4" in length coming out of wall, and the end is chewed up a bit.

No Universal tub spout w/diverter works with a 3/4" slip-on stub-out, that I've found.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I cut the copper pipe as close to the wall as possible.
I soldered on a 1/2" threaded male extension, which now came out of the wall 3/4" total with threads.
I siliconed the opening around the copper pipe.
I installed the Danco Universal tub spout.
It seems to be working fine, and it's tight against the tub wall.
