I would like to replace a single pole switch with a double switch. There is one light attached to the switch, and I would like to move that to one of the new switches and have another light attached to the other switch. The lights should operate independently; one in the family room, one in the dining room. Below is the current configuration of the existing switch. The only difference between the picture and my situation is that the power from the existing light comes through BX cable, and I will be using Romex (12/2?) with ground. I presume I can connect the grounding wire to the grounding screw in use now with the NM.
Assuming the picture below is accurate, how do I wire the new switches/fixture to take the power from the existing configuration? (Or, what changes do I make to the drawing to make this work?)
It SEEMS to be simple, but I really don't want to overdose myself on electricity.
Thanks for any help that can be offered.
