Hello, my mom's bathroom sink is constantly getting clogging so I decided that today was the day to fix it. I looked underneath the vanity and guess what I see, a mess. I did a little bit of research and realized that whoever installed this p trap was a jerk. Anyways, I removed old "p trap" and realized the drain pipe behind the wall was corroded. Is there any way that I can fix this pipe? Or do I have to remove old plumbing altogether?
Trying to repair P-trap ?? under sink! Help!

Been there, seen it, done it, bought the T-shirt, at my mothers place a few weeks ago.
First, you should go to Lowes and buy a small snake to run through that old pipe in the wall. Could have a bunch of hair in that section. While you are there, buy a new steel/brass trap and a Fernco coupling (rubber sleeve with a hose clamp on each end) to connect to the old stub in the wall. You need to get rid of that corrugated plastic trap. Cut off the old stub so it at least has a square cut end.
And while you are at Lowes, you might as well pick up up a new drain and stopper (and some plumbers putty to mount it) because you know that as soon as you touch that think it will fall apart. Old plumbing is just that way. Get steel/brass, not plastic.

Keep in mind, too, you don't have a "ptrap" now. She was probably getting sewer gasses in the bathroom all along. The trap should extend below the outlet so a column of water will keep the gasses on the sewer side. But, you're right, whoever did that was an idiot.
You mean to cleanly cut the end of the horizontal pipe ? Probably a hacksaw would work. It might be too tight under there for a full size hacksaw. A mini holder (which holds the blade only from one end) will fit under there better. But be gentle with it or you will fold up the blade.
