i asked this in the building section, but have no answer so far. i have a garage that is 20' wide, and the trusses span that. i am in climate zone 8, so truss uplift due to temperature/moisture differential between the top and bottom chord will happen. i have no interior walls and will stop screwing the sheet rock to the trusses about 12" from the exterior wall. between the trusses there is blocking attached to the top plate of the wall to screw to. CONCERN: i have a truss that is parallel to a wall and only 8" away. i don't want to screw the 'rock to that truss, at least near the middle, and don't want to float the 'rock over to the next truss as that would give me a 32" float. i plan on installing blocking between the last and second last truss and screwing to that, staying 16" from the wall near the middle of the truss and 12" away from the wall near the ends of the truss. is that what is normally done? i don't see what else to do.
