Triple wall chimney threw Steel roof

It is not necessary if the bottom portion of the flange was lain over the lower course of shingles and the 3 other sides were covered properly with shingles.

Are there any nail holes that water is getting in, or a broken seal at the base?

Im trying to find out what I did wrong originally with a Steel galavume roof I will take a picture and post it here This thing has leaked for years...
