I am digging a 2' trench for power and water. There's 20' or 30' section that is below the water table . . . in fact, the water table is pretty much at the soil surface level. I've been working on it with a trenching shovel, but its getting pretty much impossible to make any progress in the muck. Any ideas? Thanks!

Dig a pit off to the side deeper then the trench and use a mud pump to pump the water away from the area.

tempory walls to hold back the sides while you dig, then remove after you are done laying the lines.

Ayuh,.... Underwater, with the mud pump, ya may not even need the shovel....

Water level at the top of the soil, what are you doing, trenching in a pond or wetland?
