The tree (with red leaves) in front of our house is starting to get unwieldy. Should I cut it down or trim it? Worried that the roots might be growing into the pipes.

Would you recommend replacing it with another tree?

Thanks in advance.

A tree that big should be allowed to grow that close to the house.
It can effect the foundation, drain lines, sidewalks, cause mold to form on the side of the house and shingles, keep the gutters plugged up.

That's a beautiful old tree. but yeah, it's not good that it's so close to the house.

Do you need it for shading the house to keep it cool?

It would be a shame to cut it down, and a tree pro will charge a pretty penny to take it down.

Personally, first I would trim off some of the low-hanging branches and get the branches away from the house.
