About five years ago I started a Christmas tree farm. Today I have about 500 trees total.
To trim the grass around all of these trees (by hand) takes up ALL of my summer.
With so many trees, is there a way to get rid of the grass so I can mow around them and not have to trim the grass by hand?

Spray something like round up underneath each tree to kill the grass immediately under it.

I would use the spray too. First mow what you can. This way you'll know exactly where you need to spray.

Do it on a day when there is no breeze or wind so that you have control of what you're spraying.

If you need to spray near branches that are close to the ground/weeds, have a helper lift the branches out of the way while you are spraying. I'm not sure that the spray would hurt the trees, but why take a chance.
