So I know that for there's a specific cement for ABS to ABS, and another for PVC to PVC, and that using the wrong cement on a given type of pipe will not work. But I have also heard that there is a 'transition' cement that can be used to bond ABS to PVC, and will work on both. So why not just use transition cement all the time? I'm assuming if it will work to bond the two different types of pipe, it will also work on the same types (i.e. ABS to ABS). Why bother having two different types of cement on hand?
