Hi... Have some cabinets i built for a mudroom.. Primed sanded and primed again.. Sprayed my first coat of the Advance with my Graco Airless sprayer with fine finish tip.. Mostly went on well enough for me.. Sanded with 400... Sprayed my second coat but noticed a few spots where some crap got in the paint.. Small pieces of dust or dirt i dont know where from and a spot where it spit... Can i sand these with say 400 girt sand paper and finish with 000 synthetic steel wool and have any hope if it blending in ok without needing to paint again? Or will i likely have to touch it up? If i have to touch it up whats the best method to do that in a small section without respraying the whole thing?

The pieces in question are two 19" deep by 8ft high tall cabinets and the top of a 18" deep by 78" wide bench.

Very small pieces of grit can be buffed out of the finish with a piece of smooth cardboard or a paper bag( probably the equivalent of 5,000 grit paper or something) without scratching or dulling the finish. I do that often with Advance after its good and dry just to give it that extra smoothness.

If it's larger pieces of grit and you have to actually sand, even with very fine paper, it's going to show.

I doubt if perfect touch ups are feasible. Generally have to redo the whole section. I would try the cardboard first and go from there.

Thanks.. I'll give the paper bag or cardboard a try..

I got a spot where there was a little tail on the spray when the pump triggered to add pressure.. What can I do to help prevent that? It was only that one spot where the pump clicked in..

I think it got it. I ended up just sanding down flaws with 320 where needed and 400 over everything.. And I resprayed the whole thing..

Its only 4 pieces so not a lot of paint and I worked out the tail issue as well.. Based on the wet look I am happy with it...
