My new toilet is 7' 8" from the vertical 3" stack. It's a first floor stool, so plumbing is in the basement--drop is no problem. I am using 3"... 1/4 drop over 8 is 2".. In looking around I see that 6' is the acceptable limit?

a) what does your local County code/inspector expect?
b) is it already installed?
c) if installed... is it venting adequately?

Is the 6' limit is about the separate venting or not?
Also, you don't want to exceed 1/4" per foot (or so) slope because the water will run away from the solids and the left behind solids will eventually clog the pipe.

Stack is not a vent... So vent it.
