What is best way to re paint metal soffitt. Changing trim color to a lighter color and concerned with air vent holes. I am using a latex paint ( behr ultra ). Would cutting the paint with water make it easier to avoid clogging air vents?

no. You cannot cut this product. It already is about at the bottom of the barrel. You have chosen the worst product and will never be satisfied with the results. As well as it will last many years less than a quality paint. But, latex was the correct choice for the siding , but need to use a spray or oil for the metal soffit. The binder (PVA a plastic) is too large in latex to be used for this purpose.

You are better off with the water to cut the paint that you are with the Behr paint. I am assumin you have alluminum soffits?
