Tiling kitchen floor with baseboard steam heat

Hello!
I'm putting tile in a kitchen which originally had linoleum flooring. I plan on using 1/4" cement board as underlayment, and 1/4" tile. Problem is, that 1/2" or more (including thinset) takes me too high up on the baseboard radiators. Does this mean I'll have to remove and raise the radiators to sit on the tile? What all is involved if you've done this before? Thanks!

you should move the heaters up. The airflow below these units help create the movement of air needed for proper operation.
