I know this has been discussed ad nauseum...

I'm planning on doing porcelain tile and bamboo hardwood flooring. The wood run horizontal to the tile. I'd prefer not to use a wood t molding for aesthetics. I will adjust the height difference with the schluter ditra on the tile so I should be able to make the height even. I looked at http://www.schluter.com/2171.aspx and http://www.schluter.com/1_3_reno_t.aspx and both could be an option. My question is about the wood's expansion and contraction. How close can I put the wood to the transition? Should I use flexible caulk between the wood and the transition or the transition and the tile or on both side? I live in the desert so we probably have less weather changes so more even humidity.

Forgot to mention. substrate is concrete so wood will be glued down....

You have to use a transition between the two materials, or use a silicone based caulk colored the same color as your grout, but it will end up looking real bad if you do not do it perfect.

The expansion and contraction rate for bamboo is 50% of wood,so half of 3/4" is 3/8" and being in the desert maybe a little less.
