We bought a tile ready shower pan that is 48x48. We also ordered custom shower doors that are 48x48. We didn’t take in consideration that the shower pan dimensions were including the ledge of the pan. Therefore our doors are too long. Is there a way to build the shower pan out to accommodate the difference in the shower doors lengths?

Can you link us to the door you bought. I don't think they are 48 x 48. Should be taller than 48. How are you treating the walls? Tile?

I think the 48x48 is length * width, i.e. to fit a square shower with glass on 2 sides, and not height.

We used a Schluter preformed base for our shower, but had to extend it a bit so were able to cut a separate Schluter curb to extend it. I imagine you could do the same thing, just have to make sure whatever extension you use would be well adhered to the base. It would need to have a waterproofing layer extended over it, since I'm guessing your preformed base is in itself a the waterproof layer.

OK, you said the doors were too "long". Are they too wide? Is the opening too wide for the doors? Once you apply 1/2" cbu to the walls and the tile, what would be the dimensions? How much space are you dealing with?
