I have a one bedroom ground floor basement (500 sqft) in a 50 year old house in Vancouver. When we removed the carpet and defective sub floor we found that the old concrete floor is very uneven and laminate cannot be installed without adequate leveling which seems a difficult task. One builder says if we do tiles, the unevenness can be treated with the mortar thickness. I intend to do the bedroom with laminate or carpet as the flooring is level enough. However, will it be good to have tile in the living area and hallway? I know it would be fine for kitchen. Thank you for your opinion in advance.
