I want to install 2x12 tile crown molding around a back splash….The 2 vertical crown molding pieces (both ends) will sit half on wood (1”) and half on drywall (1”)
Should I just use thinset (or mastic), or because it will sit partially on wood should I go with another type of adhesive?

I think the proper term is not crown molding but chair rail....Something like that:
