if i am just making a 6" tile baseboard, will it be OK if i just set them on drywall or should it still be backer board?
it is in a powder room. just a toiler and a lavatory.is this in a wet area?
those who listen to advice from HD incompetent douchebags deserves to have their project fail in an epic way...home depot tells them to. no mixing. longer pot life. close the bucket and use it next weekend.
but how hard is it to mix some thinset from a bag in a paint bucket with a blender-like attachment to a regular drill (one of my favorite recent tool discoveries that saves a lot of time and effort mixing small amounts) or even doing it manually in a tub?I would use mastic for this application. It comes in smaller quantities and will work just fine in this case.No muss no fuss!

Oh now you want to argue?:laughing:but how hard is it to mix some thinset from a bag in a paint bucket
i dont blame you one bit. my preference is always thinset even on a dry backsplash. maybe im a little "old school". dont get me wrong, i like the ease of use on a lot of the new products but in my own house i still like mud jobs, thinset and pack mud w/wet setting the tiles on my shower floors. the OP question was "why would anyone choose mastic over thinset?" at any point i would assume.I would use mastic for this application. It comes in smaller quantities and will work just fine in this case.No muss no fuss!
