I work at a factory that builds modular structures. One of the electrical foremen is Canadian but holds certification from the US. He says he has an International ticket which is recognized world wide and supercedes the Canadian Red Seal. Is he blowing smoke up my you-know-what? Is he allowed to work in construction with no Canadian ticket. I am a plumber and I know that for us, you must be either a Red Seal journeyman or a registered apprentice working under the direct supervision of one.

You are referring to factory work which is a different category than construction and may not require a Red Seal. Interesting question though. Any of you certified electricians able/willing to answer the question?

I am not an electrician and I do not do electrical work other than minor stuff around my own house. Just curious. My son is an electrician. Guess I could ask him but, he works and lives way up in the Tar Sands is hard to get in touch with. But, I digress.

I know someone who moved to Ontario and he is licensed in the US. He still had to take an assessment exam.

My license is only good in the state of GA, however, we do reciprocate with several states.
This only allows me to take their test, and not work in the state.

I know there's been a whack of changes to the National Building Code this year, and I think some of that applies to "temporary structures". Was hoping a Canadian electrician or two might chime in on this.

My license do cover state of Wisconsin and Entire country of France and have to deal with two differnt set of rules sometime not easy.

Af far for Canada electrical code change I did heard some changes going on but I do not know what it will be effective with it and what it will be add and what deleted from the CEC ( Canada Electrical Code )

But I feel Joed may know about this so just wait and see if he reply this part or not., it is up to him.

I did not know that Keith. I thought we reciprocated and all I had to do was pay a fee to do work in GA.
You are saying I would have to take a test in GA even though I have a state license in SC?

4. Texas (conditioned air).

With your application, you must submit a certification letter from the respective state board verifying that you hold a license and have passed the state examination.

I know you will ask me a very good question and Oui there is a International License but very limited useage and I mean just a hand full are qualifed for that and there is tons of paperwork to follow up and it is not easy with it.

But Not only I have I.L. with me but I do carry it own country license as well.

Techally wise most case No., The OP will not able work in just any country or state or local area with I.L. due some of the area may not Honour it., so it kinda sticky on that. ( they useally go by case by case )

Well I have the licenses (Master & Contractor) and I still have my test scores from "Block & Associates".
So I guess if you need a part time consultant, I am your guy! :laughing:
