Hey everyone, I'm new to electrical and looking on advice on running 14/3 wire.

Looking to join three lights in a circuit on a three-way. The current switch has a 14/2 coming in for power and a 14/2 to the light. For my new switch can I just run a 14/3 wire to the first light and then 14/2 to the rest? Or do i have to run a 14/3 wire switch to switch? I'm thinking i can't do this but can't seem to find a solid yes or no.

Thanks

You can do it if you can feed the lights from the second box. When you have power and the lead to the lights from the same box you would need 4 wires.
