So my son tried to give me a hand by swapping the new Hunter 44905 thermostat for the existing Carrier TSTATCCPLH01-B thermostat while I was at work. The problem is that he removed all the wires before labelling them and then panicked when he realized that he needed to know them for the installation. When I got home I was able to at least determine which wires went into which group by the way they were bent. Not sure if there is an easy way to do this, but it is getting chilly in the house without the heat pump running. Here's what I know...there was a black, gray, pink, brown, and blue wire connected to a group labelled as C, DHUM, HUM, B, S1, & S2. The other group was a yellow, white, red, orange, and green going to a group labelled O/W2, Y1/W2, R, G, Y/Y2, & W/W1. Is there any way to figure this out? The new thermostat has a place for R, Y, G, L, O, B, A/E, Y2, C, & H.

Thanks in advance!

Okay...here is what I found in the handling unit.

DH - Pink
R - Red
W1 - White
W2 - Empty
Y1 - Empty
Y/Y2 - Yellow
O - Orange
G - Green
C - Blue

The black wires are together in a wire nut.
The gray wires are together in a wire nut.
The brown wire is wired together with another wire going to a humidifer.

So with all this, I can see where the R, G, O, Y, & C go on the new thermostat. Do I need to put anything in the L, B, A/E, Y2, or H?

And perhaps I am mistaken about the type of unit as well. I was told when we bought the house that it was a heat pump, but I do not know the difference between that and a conventional unit. There are conventional connections as well. Those are

Rh
Rc
Y
G
W
W2
Y2
C
A
W3
H

If your outdoor unit runs during the heating season, you have a heat pump. Need a pro to chime in on the extra wiring. You should be matching the terminals on the control board to the terminals on the thermostat. You will have empty terminals and may have unused wires.

DH - Pink Need to know what brand and model numbe air handler you have
R - Red goes to RC and jumper sto RH on stat
W1 - White goes to A/E
W2 - Empty
Y1 - Empty
Y/Y2 - Yellow goes to Y
O - Orange goes to O
G - Green goes to G
C - Blue goes to C

The black and gray wires may be to an outdoor temp sensor, you have to trace them out to find what they go to.

L, B, and Y2 nothing goes to them.
