my old thermostat has a broken wire/piece-of-metal that attaches something inside it. Can I solder this? I haven't soldered before, but it seems like a good place to learn. Please help--it's cold!

If you have some home
Handyman skills ?
Then you can probably
Replace the t stat !
Look for a make & model
Number on the unit
If it is old then a direct
Equivelent is unlikely
But a suitable substitute
Will be available.

Looks like a line voltage thermostat. Make sure you turn the power off to it before changing it.
