Hi,
There is unknown blocked area in one corner of my home from basement to top.
The size is 36" X 61" , seems nothing related to the home, just few electric socket on its wall.
What it can be?

Thanks for help.

Maybe you had an elevator at one time??? How many floors do you have?

Big for a dumb waiter, may have been a coal chute, or a brick chimney .

Maybe it was a built-in refrigerator freezer, for an old commercial building.

Age of the home, and location, please.

You could get a camera for your cell phone, that is a flexible wire sized cable, drill a small hole and take a look that way.

Go to your city planning and zoning department, and look at the blueprints of this, that new they should have the plan on file.

Definitely looks purpose built, but what?
What do you see from the attic, be careful if it is just covered with insulation?

That little fiber optic camera cable that I spoke of earlier, would fit easily through the outlets in the attic, no drilling needed, and they are around $10.00.

And remove the outlet cover to gain access.

So that would give you an idea of what is behind those walls.

It looks like there was an elevator.
but this time it useless. I think you can't reconstruct this area or you can't make it useful.
it may use a small storage area.
but why are you bother this? it's not to cover many areas.
so relax
thank

A reason for investigating is (assuming you are in a heating climate) eliminating a potential thermal bypass. Unknown what the construction is like in there but open cavities between floors or worse between basement and attic can be extreme sources of heat loss. I can judge until we get pictures but i have discovered large and small and extreme is a mild description.
