I am building a garage with an upstairs apartment 300ft from my house. I have it dried in and would like to pull some some temporary power from my house to finish construction. I need enough juice to run saws , an air compressor and a few lights. What would the best way to do this? Wire size, subpanel amps etc... Thanks!

Either install the actual service first and use it for temp, or use a generator. Running special temp power that far for this is a waste of money.

If you are planning on having power in the building I would get the electric service installed with a few receptacles for temporary power right next to the panel get it inspected once it's powered up you will have power.

If you are running power from your home then you will need to figure out if you have enough to supply your home and the garage/apartment.
