Hey guy's

LOL sorry bout that title,

I'm going to be mounting 4 of these hooks (see pic)
this time into drywall and/or the studs, I'm tight for space, so I may NOT be able to get a stud every time.

Now the bolts that came with it are anchor bolts, for concrete. So I'm trying to figure out the correct size for "lag bolts" I believe.

so for measurements this is what I have (took with drill bits and there holes)

1> The hole in the metal is 21/64" (or 8mm)
2> The diameter of the actual anchor bolt is 5/16 (or 7mm)
3> The length of the anchor is 1 3/4" (or 44mm)

There are 2 bolts and each wheel is around 40lb's

So the question is this,

1> what size LAG bolts do I want for the studs
2> if going into drywall, what kind of screws/anchors do I need ?

and if I can't hit a stud everytime,, how best to anchor them
Go down to your local Big Box or hardware store, There are a dozen different types and brands of heavy duty drywall anchors to choose from. They're all good, just get ones rated for a lot more weight than what you plan on hanging.

If you can hit a stud, you're fine with lags. I'm not even sure you'd need 3". A good quality construction screw would probably do it. That's all holding a lot of kitchen cabinets up. The problem is if you don't hit a stud. Then you're looking at Moly bolts if the weight isn't too much. Or toggle bolts for more weight. I personally don't care for toggle bolts. But there are an awful lot of flat screen TVs hanging on them as I write this. Mine included.

But if your decor can handle it, mount the hooks to a board. then mount the board to the wall.

Have you seen inside the walls so you know where wiring is? Holes for wiring are supposed to be at least 1 1/4 inches from the face of the stud. With 1/2” wallboard, a fastener that penetrates more than 1 3/4 inches has a chance of hitting a wire. A small chance, but it sucks when it happens.

I think 1 possibly 2 tires will hit a stud, 1 I found is 1" away from a cabinet so useless,
32" is the first top to bottom stud, the next one 32" for some reason my stud finder can only find 1/2 of it, LOL

again the next 32" another half, so I might stagger 2 tires and the other 2 will be lower down

I like the idea of molly bolty, the seem to be a bit better, but not sure if I can get them in 5/16" or 1/4" I'll do a looksie

what about metal anchors, thing there called ez-anchor, they screw in to the drywall, I've used them before.

anyways

txs guys's

I#ve had somewhat of a change, I think I'm gonna put them on the opposite wall (concrete blocks) below the existing tires. I've been going mad trying to get the right size hollow wall anchors, the tires are heavy and I don't wanna rip them off the drywall.
I've tried 3 big box stores and for the diameter size I would be more comfortable, with 3/16" but can seem to get any decent ones.

Lag bolts yes anchors no, and I can do 2 tires but not all 4.

see the below pic
