When starting mower, and engaging drive cable, the engine bogs down and almost stall. The mower starts fine, but loses power. I have replaced drive cable last year when it snapped. I replaced belt, spark plug. Still not running like it should. Last year, one of the last times I used it, it seemed to surge and this is how it runs. Should carburetor be taken apart and cleaned? Is there a throttle cable or something that could have snapped? Any thoughts?
It sounds like your engine is being robbed of fuel, rebuilding the carburetor quite possibly could help however before doing that I would get some Seafoam carburetor cleaner and run it thru the system to see if it helps.
