I have water damage inside my home - the drywalls are bubbling in many areas. A contractor who patched some cracks on the exterior of my home noticed that there was NO tar paper under the stucco he repaired - I am now worried that the WHOLE house may have been stucco'd without tar paper water barrier.

How can we check that the whole house has been properly tar papered? Spot check from the inside or the outside? Which is the least invasive?

Is there a non invasive test to check for tar paper layer?

I know the previous owner was a DIY enthusiast with a history of shoddy (unpermitted) work.

If you were to drill holes I think you should be able to tell if you hit tar paper. It will leave black marks(tar) in the bit. Probably work best going slow.

Post some pictures of the inside areas that are damaged, A area of damage that can be seen on the inside takes a lot of water vapor. If there is that much water damage you may have mold to
