Hi Guys, great site! I just purchased 5/8" 1 x 6 x 8' Knotty pine which I will be bringing to my cabin this weekend. I will be installing it in the next couple of weeks once the wood is acclimitized. Basic info follow

Installed Vertical
Studs on 16"
6.0mil Vapour Barrier
1 x 4 Strapping spaced roughly 15" - 20" apart
Live in Canada and get -40 in the winter but keep it heated
I will be using a 18g air nailer to install the boards.

I have 5/8" (Pine) + 3/4" (Strap) = 1 3/8" total

I will be using a 1.5" - 2" nail. Doing so will be putting a small hole into my vapour barrier, will this cause a problem? If so, will a 1 1/4" nail be strong enough to hold the wood? I was also thinking of using glue when installing to help keep the wood secure. Anybody input would be great!!!

Thanks in advance!

The 1-1/2" nail would be fine presuming you are blind nailing thru the tongue at a 45° angle. Two inch are a tad too long tho. I wouldn't glue it as it's going to want to move with humidity changes.
