We are moving into a new home (fixer) and have been addressing basement water issues. The basement has been drying out but now it seems moisture is condensing on the walls (no rain and hot and sunny now for about a week). Wondering what might be causing it. Could it just be due to temp change and normal or should we be looking for other issues/fixes?

This time of year in many localities around the country, humidity is rising. As a result, it condenses on cooler objects, like the foundation.
Buy a dehumidifier based on the size of the basement and you should be fine as long as you're not introducing excessive moisture into the environment.

The dew point in the house is why the walls would be sweating. Get the air moving down there, and if the a/c has been off in the home for a while, get it running to help dry the air out. Best Dehumidifier ever made. I no longer use mine, since we got Central A/C in our home last year. Had to run it when we used Window units upstairs.

Hey Bmc,

Do yourself a favor and make sure the downspouts are connected to some sort of extensions or PVC piping. The goal is to get the rain water as far away from your foundation as possible.

When the soil surrounding your basement is saturated, the water will penetrate your foundation walls and end up in your basement.

Limiting the amount of water in the soil will decrease the amount of humidity in the basement.
