Exterior painting. Nothing special about house except one side has direct sun exposure all summer long. Fiber Cement siding. One contractor would use Duration for the entire house, minus trim. The other contractor would use SuperPaint for most of house, but then use Duration only on the sun-exposed side. When I asked why not Duration for the whole house, he said it was overkill. So who's correct?

Any thoughts on SuperPaint vs. Duration?

Bonus question: One of the contractors told me, without any prompting, that they don't backroll fiber cement siding because it's not recommend for that material. Any truth to this?
Thanks.

I've not painted much cement siding and I don't remember if I've sprayed any of it although I almost always back roll or back brush because that works the paint into the substrate better. I typically only do that for one coat. I wonder if spraying cement siding that hasn't been primed causes the issue they spoke of??

SuperPaint is usually my number 1 choice of SWP paints. I've not used much Duration but it seemed to me that SuperPaint applied better/easier.

I'm all in for SuperPaint. To me, it's just the best of the SW paint line-up for the money spent. In fact, that's all I use on exteriors. It's just a good, solid, paint that holds up well. You will get a good 10-12 years using it on fiber cement. I used it on my garage that has fiber cement on it and it has been 9 years, no peeling, maybe some slight fading. I brushed and rolled so I can't say if you need to backroll it after spraying.
